Inside the Tent, specialists in helping businesses increase sales through their networks, stole the lime light at the Mentor Magic competition that took place on the 21 March hosted by Hampshire Institute of Directors (IoD).

In this new series of Dragon's Den type events, a panel of successful entrepreneurs and the large audience suggest ways that presenters can best deal with their business issues. Inside the Tent was selected over three other business leaders competing to win one year of mentoring from some of the regions most successful entrepreneurs.

Inside the Tent was launched at the end of 2006 to help firms increase sales revenue through their existing business networks. The company has developed a customisable on-line portal solution which enables firms to considerably extend its network-reach beyond its current sales capability through an internet based business network. The software provides a completely secure and fully customisable member networking forum, priced to meet the needs of firms with modest sales and marketing budgets.

The panel of four judges selected the winner after each contender gave a five minute presentation and ten minutes discussion in a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style. The winner was chosen on the basis of presenting a compelling case for a business with greatest potential to succeed.

The firm is one in a portfolio of companies founded by serial entrepreneur Nick Daniels, who launched his first business at the age of 27 in 1998 and now turns over in excess of £15 million. He is currently a founding executive board member of five firms, actively manages two of these and provides consultancy services to bring life back to struggling businesses.

Nick Daniels, Managing Director of Inside the Tent comments:  “So many firms get caught up in winning new customers and often forget to leverage the ones they have. What’s more they do not look to the broader business network. Partners, suppliers, employees, investors and so on… there is potential for revenue growth from all sides of the company and once you win the hearts and minds of these people the referral potential can be massive".

Inside the Tent will join other winners from three heats at a star-studded awards dinner in December at the De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel, Southampton.

"We are delighted to be singled out by some of the regions leading entrepreneurs and recognised as a worthy player with a proposition that has serious market potential" concludes Nick.
